Easy English Lesson 15 – Directions

In this Easy English lesson you will learn how to ask about directions to reach a specific place and how to describe directions if someone asks you how to get to a specific place. Directions are important to know how to ask and answer about them is one of the essential things in English that you should learn.

English Speaking Practice

1-1st (first), 2nd ( second), 3rd (third), 4th (forth) , and 5th (fifth): these numbers are usually used to give directions, like saying it is the 2nd shop on the left, or it is on the third floor.
2- Where is the bookstore? ,
How can I get to the bookstore? : Both sentences are used to ask about directions.
3- It’s on the second floor: This sentence is used to give directions when the place you are asked for is in a building.
4- It’s upstairs: This sentence is also used to give directions when the place you are asked for is in a building.
5-It’s downstairs.
6- Go along North Street: This sentence is used when you want to tell someone to go straight and continue down the road and here is to continue down North Street, and notice (North) the first letter is capital (N) because that is the name of the street.
7- Turn left down west street: This sentence is used when the place you are describing is at the end of a street.
8- Take the second turning on the right: This sentence is used when there are many turnings on the same street and you want to be accurate.
9- It’s on the corner: This sentence is used when the place you are giving directions to is at the meeting point of two roads.
10- Is Charles Street near here? : This question is used to ask if the street you want to go to is near the place you are in.
