Easy English Lesson 26: What is the date?

 In this lesson you will learn how to ask and answer questions about the dates and about time periods.

Main Sentences 

1- What is today's date? : This sentence is used to ask for the exact date of the day.

2- Today is the fifth of April: This sentence is used to tell the date of the same day when someone asks you about it. Note that when you are asked about the date you should say the date of the day and also the month.

3- When is your birthday? : This sentence is used to ask about someone's date of birth.

4- My birthday is on April the fifteenth: This sentence is used to tell someone your date of birth.

5- How long does it last? : This sentence is used to ask about how long a certain thing will continue or exists.

6- It lasts for three weeks: This sentence is used to tell a person the exact period a certain thing will continue to exist.

7- How long does it take to get there? : This sentence is used to ask about the exact period of time needed to arrive at a certain destination.

8- It takes about two hours: This sentence is used to tell a person the exact period of time needed for something.

9- In the summer: This sentence is used when someone asks you about the exact time you are going to do a certain activity or action, and here you specify the season not the exact day.

10- How long will you be away? : This sentence is used to ask a person how long will it take him or her till they come back.

11- From the twenty first of August to the second of September: This sentence is used to tell the exact period of a certain activity or action you will be doing and when exactly will it ends.

12- I want to go abroad: This sentence is used to tell someone that you want to go to another or a foreign country.

13- I am going away next Monday: This sentence is used to tell a person the exact day you are going to leave.

14- This ticket is for the fifth of the month: This sentence is used to tell a person the exact date his or her ticket is booked for.

15- How long will the flight last? : This sentence is used to ask for the exact length of time a flight 
will take to arrive.
