Easy English Lesson 22: Who’s that?
In this lesson you
will learn how to ask and answer questions about conditions and feelings such
as sickness and happiness, and you will also learn how to describe some
features of people as well as characters.
Speaking Practice
Repeat the following sentences many times:
1- Who is that? : This sentence is used to ask about someone
you don't and know and wants to know who this person is.
2- That is my cousin: This sentence is used when someone
asks you about a certain person and wants to know who this person is.
3- Is that the new player? : This sentence is used to ask
for confirmation and here it is used to confirm whether the person is the new
player or not.
4- Which one? : This sentence is used to ask also for
confirmation, usually used when someone asks you about a certain person and you
are not sure which person is that.
5- The one with blonde hair: This sentence is used to give
detailed description of someone.
6- Look! He is over there: This sentence is also used for
description but not of a person but of where this person is or where this person
is standing. Note that the usage of "Look!" at the beginning of the
sentence is to grab your listener attention.
7- The tall one he is wearing number five (5): This sentence
is used to give extra description about someone, and here you describe the shirt
and its number, usually used when you describe a football or basketball player.
8- You don't look well: This sentence is used to comment on
someone's condition when you see that person doesn't look well.
9- You look ill: This sentence is used to comment on
someone's condition to state that this person looks ill.
10- I feel ill: This sentence is used to state your
condition and to confirm a feeling which is illness.
11- That's my sister, she lives in Canada: This sentence is
used to give a description of a person.
12- Which one is he? : This sentence is used to ask for
confirmation about a person that you don't know.
13- He is the third from the left: This sentence is used to
refer to someone that you want your listener to recognize.
14- Just a moment, please: This sentence is used to ask your
listener to wait for a while, usually to check information.
15- What's her name? : This sentence is used to ask for
information, usually used when you want to confirm a person name to check it
and here it is to ask about the name of a female.
16- Her name is Mrs. Suzan Kent: This sentence is used to
give information and confirm the name of a person. Note that "Mrs."
is used to refer to a married woman.
