Easy English Lesson 24: How can we get there?
In this lesson you
will learn how to ask and answer questions in common daily situations, such as
transportation, asking for some directions.

1- How can we get to Brighton? : This sentence is used to ask for directions to get to a certain place.
2- How far is Brighton? : This sentence is used to ask for
the distance to estimate how long it will take to get to a certain place.
3- It's eighty five kilometers away: This sentence is used
to give information about how long it will take to get to a certain place. Note
that when you are asked this question" How far is….?" You can either
give information about the length in kilometers or the estimated time in
minutes.
4- It's a long way from here: This sentence is used to
express how far a place is as a confirmation that this place is too far away.
5-By car: This sentence is used to confirm how something is
done, and in this example to express how you can get to a certain place which
is by using a car.
6- You can take a taxi: This sentence is also used as
another way to express how something is done and also as a suggestion of a way
of transportation.
7- You can walk: This sentence is also a different way to
suggest how a person can get to a certain place.
8- You can go by bus.
9- There is a bus every twenty minutes: This sentence is
used to give information about the timing of ways of transportation and here it
refers to specifically buses.
10- It's faster by train: This sentence is used to recommend
something which in this example "train" as a way of transportation.
11- I am at the airport: This sentence is used to give
information about the place you are in while speaking.
12- Sorry, I can't meet you: This sentence is a polite way
of apologizing to a person when you already have promised to meet this person
and you found out that you can't.
13- Can you tell me the way to Burton road, please? : This
sentence is used to ask for directions to get to a certain place.
14- It is two hundred meters on the right: This sentence is
used to give information and directions to a certain place when someone asks
you how to get to that place.
15- You are going the wrong way: This sentence is used to
tell a person the right directions when he or she is going the wrong way.
16- It is not far from here: This sentence is used when
someone asks you about a place and you want to confirm that it is near.
17- Look at the sign: This sentence is used to ask someone
to look at the sign, and "the sign" here
means road direction signs.

As we mentioned earlier in the previous lesson in this section you will learn how to pronounce English properly, therefore we will start with vowel sounds which are divided into short vowel, long vowel, and R controlled vowel sounds.
