Easy English Asking For Directions
In this lesson you are going to learn how to ask for directions to go to a certain place and how to answer them if someone asked you for directions. These phrases can be of help, even if you are not proficient in English.
1- Where is the nearest post office?: This sentence is used to ask about the closest post office.
Straight ahead: This sentence is used when someone asks you for directions and you want them to go in one straight direction in front of them.
2- There’s a post office in West Street: This sentence is used when you want to give specific information when someone ask you for directions by giving the name of the street.
3-I’m sorry I don’t know: the sentence is simply used if you don’t know the directions when someone asks you for it.
4-I think it’s in Market street: This sentence is used when you are not sure about the street name of the place.
5-It’s opposite the bank: This sentence is used when the place is on the other side of the bank.
6-Turn left at the corner:This sentence is used when the place is after a corner when is the meeting of two roads.
7-Turn left at the first light: This sentence refers to the traffic light so it means you turn left at the first traffic light.
8-Execuse me, but would you please tell me the way to the post office: This sentence is used to politely ask for the directions of a specific place such as the post office.
9- Is there a post office around here? This question is used when you need to know if there is any post office in the area you are in or not.
10-Turn right at the first intersection: This sentence is used to refer to the place where two or more roads join or cross each other.
