Easy English Lesson 06 – What’s the time?
In this lesson you will learn how to ask about the time in different places and how to answer if someone asked you about the time.
English Speaking Practice:

1- What’s the time? : This sentence is generally used to ask about time.
2- It’s quarter past four: This sentence is used to tell the time when it is 15 minutes after the hour (4:15).
3- It’s half past nine: This sentence is used to tell the time when it is 30 minutes after the hour (9:30).
4- It’s quarter to twelve: This sentence is used to tell the time when it is 15 minutes before the hour (11:45).
5- It’s eleven forty-five: This sentence is used to tell the time when it is also 15 minutes before the hour (11:45).
6- She’s (is) late: This sentence is used when you want to say that someone is late and didn’t come on time.
7- When do the trains leave? : This sentence is used when you want to ask about the exact time of departure for the trains.
8- The next train will leave at ten forty: This sentence is used to tell the exact departure time of the train which is 20 minutes before the hour (10:40).
9- We open at nine fifteen: This sentence is used to tell the time of opening for a certain place or shop which is 15 minutes after the hour in this case (9:15).
10- In Hamburg it’s ten fifteen: This sentence is used to tell the time in a certain city and here it is 15 minutes after the hour (10:15).
11- In New York it’s five fifteen in the morning: This sentence is used to also tell the time in a certain city while comparing it to the time in another city, so its 10:15 in London but it’s 5:15 in the morning in New York.
12- When will they arrive? : This sentence is used to ask about the arrival time of someone or something.
13- We must leave early: This sentence is used to confirm that you should go or leave early and not being late.
14- I’m (am) used to getting up early: This sentence is used to confirm a habit that you always do which is getting up early and not late.
15- Don’t be late for work: This sentence is used as an advice or an order when you want to tell someone that he or she shouldn't be late for work.
16- I will be waiting for Tom until 6 O’clock: This sentence is used to confirm that you will be waiting for Tom only till 6 O’clock.
17- It’s ten O’clock sharp: This sentence is used to confirm that the time is exactly 10:00 O’clock not a minute before and not a minute after.
